This is a salamander I caught above Multnomah Falls in Oregon this last week, it seemed apropos to post it not only because of my last blogged photo, but because I was recently talking to a friend who I met in Australia who is in a Graduate program studying salamanders!  So, Shannon, these photos are for you!

As I hike in Oregon I take subconscious notes on plants that I see on the way, I don't know what most of them are called, but I have a pretty good sense of what is normal and what I have seen before.  So, every now and then I get a pleasent surprise when I find a flower I have never seen before.  I found these "flowers" growing off of a small tree right above where I caught the above salamander.  I haven't had time to key them out, but hopefully I will soon!
