Stories from the Market
I feel like I probably shouldn't tell stories about people we sell shirts to at the market, because I still delude myself that people actively read the blog, but I am going to anyways.
To preface this, "it was a lot funnier in my head than written down"
Today at the market we were shooting the bull with one of our customers, regaling her of our humble bumbling beginnings, College-RV-Fontane's tragic death-Skiing-Beach-Hottubs-tshirts...the usual, and after she stopped humoring us, she thanked us for the shirts and "for the memories", to which my immediate half mumbled reply "no...thank you, for the mammories"
Well, to clean up for that floundering annecdote, here is an equally mediocre idea...It's best to read it out loud treateningly:

Kickin' It Thai Boxing Style
Sam and I are visiting Sunriver to get a couple last days of skiing in, but for me it was a last day:( For the first time in my 20 years of skiing I had to be taken down the mountain on a ski patrol sled. I dropped some sweet cliffs, negotiated some trees, and then promptly fell on my face while not doing anything and dislocated my shoulder right in front of a apparently clairvoyant ski patrol man. My shoulder popped right back in after a couple of painful awkward shoulder feelings to my relief, I declined the ski patrols help, started to ski down, got about 40 feet and fell on my face again dislocating the same shoulder. This time however, the shoulder didn't pop back in for a good 2 min...it does help to yell. To the relief of myself and anyone worried about avalanche danger the joint popped back in, and I decided to wait this one out and have them take me down the mountain in a sled. I was in good spirits the whole time and was chatting with my ski patrol rescuer, who happened to know a friend and fellow tshirt vendor at the Saturday market...apparently taught him everything he knows, I will have to see if that is true this coming Saturday! I was given a sling and the option for medical attention, but decided to just go get some coffee instead, maybe check out the new Mt Bachelor hot tub. Something about hot water, swelling, and taking away my only solace was what they told me right before they wouldn't let me get in the hot tub.
I am fine now, a little stiff and swollen, but not bad. I am starting to think that maybe I have shoulder instability because this is not the first time I have popped this shoulder out. Below is my shoulder popping medical history (Enjoy!):
Sophomore Year: Sam and I built a ski jump on campus below "Herb n' Farm" spent all night jumping (at one point jumped Sam). We tried to get as much air as we could, and I eventually succeeded by over shooting the landing, falling on my shoulder, popping it out of the socket, and then rolled down 3 sets of concrete amphitheater seating built into the side of the hill. I got up, it popped back in, I picked up my skis, and continued jumping (this time without poles).
Brazil: I was photographing what I thought was some exquisite tropical fruit with my 18-55mm lens. While examining the photos I noticed bugs covering the fruit...possibly ants. I got closer while taking pictures, stopped to review and zoom in to see what kind of bugs they were. The moment I realized they were BEEs it was too late. I immediately turned to run while throwing my arm up for no reason and popped my shoulder out while running and getting stung by bees. This was my excuse for buying a very expensive Telephoto lens. Unrelatedly, I nearly broke my nose later that day by doing a beaver dive into a 4 ft pool.
I am avoiding using my left arm too much, and therefore did all the photoshop work in the above photo with just my right hand...like I normally do. Sweet tatt though.

Tripod people
Wooden Trees and Beach Poles
Here are some pictures left over from this last week.
Originally this was going to be a homage to Ian's dream of making a giant wooden skull in which we would write our dreams on paper and feed them to the crucible that would soon be its mouth, but that was way too hard, so we decided to make a tree...out of smaller trees.
We then spent the next several hours and a gallon of white gas trying to light the Gilligan's Island satellite dish on fire with disappointing results.
Alas our creation was no match for the awesome power of Poseidon

Lonely Dinosaur in Deutchland!

The Lonely Dinosaur Business Plan
Here we are blogging from the beach and following our dreams. We have realized yet another goal that was set almost two years ago involving the beach, throwing sticks, throwing flaming sticks, hot dogs, and the Cat Empire playing the soundtrack to the ocean. The original dream was to have a Cat Empire beach party, but seeing as it was just Sam and I we had to adjust our plans a bit. We replaced the need for friends by building a wooden monolith. Unfortunately I forgot to upload my photos from last night (I didn't have time to upload pictures before we left for the internet...apparently Sam is still on "business time", where as I have just realized that I was born on "beach time").
It is difficult to describe our wooden monolith because it will either sound much cooler than it is, or not cool enough. But, picture this, imagine we built a tree out of wood, with a trunk about 4 ft long, and in that great wooden tree we built ourselves an eagles nest about 15 ft in diameter. It looks roughly like God's toilet plunger, or a wooden beach satellite dish. I haven't been to the beach this "morning" but I can only hope it is still there. We spent several hours last night trying to engulf the plunger in flame, but to no avail.
Another failed venture from last night was making rock candy, but like all of our dreams that don't succeed we keep at them until we forget why we ever wanted to fulfill them in the first place.
I hope to post some pictures tomorrow so you know I haven't completely hyperbolized the rock candy...among other things.
Our plans for today include redesigning old designs and making new screens to increase our print quality. We have also procured a giant silk screen specifically to create our DNA Helicase sweatshirt design. And, we are slowly switching all of our screens to aluminum frames so they are more durable and lighter.
Well, I will leave it at that for now (aluminum screens got you on the edge of you seat)...lest I continue rambling.

Oregon Coasting
Well, Sam and I have successfully moved our printing studio to my family's beach house, and we are once again starting up the crafts fair circuit. We have been selling at the Portland Saturday Market for the last two weekends and despite the inclement weather we have maintained about the same traffic. All of our plans are on track, and soon we will put a major order in for blank shirts, and set up a third party company to print and distribute t shirts while we are traveling in Central America. In the mean time we have been catching up with some friends in Portland as well as some new Couch Surfing friends.Hopefully we will actually remember to go to our silk screen supplier this week and start making all of those wonderful new designs we have been not just talking about, but talking a lot about!
We are also going to spend this coming week working on a presentation about our RV project, venture grant, and definition of success, which hopefully we will be able to present around the beginning of April.
I unfortunately haven't been doing as many web cartoons as I would like to...I think mainly because I do them all using my laptop touch pad even though I know I could do them faster and better with a pen. But here is some stuff to look at, oh, and while writing this I also bought two CDs by Emily Wells, which I just found and would highly suggest, so something to listen to as well!
